Learning Objectives | By the end of this program, students will be able to 1. Perform at the level of an advanced student, young professional or higher; demonstrating competence in technical aspects of performance, i.e., tone quality, articulation, pitch consistency, dynamic control, technical agility, and accurate rhythmic concepts. 2. Possess a strong mastery of the technique and musicianship necessary to perform as both soloists and within an ensemble at an advanced, pre-professional level. 3. Demonstrate increasing competence in knowledge of the orchestral repertoire, and as an ensemble performer through participation in orchestras and ensembles. 4. Demonstrate growing maturity in musical concepts 5. Plan and perform a graduate recital from all styles, and provide well-written program notes; collaborate with an accompanist or other musicians. 6. Acquire sufficient understanding of musical forms, processes, and structures to use this knowledge in compositional, performance, scholarly, and pedagogical contexts, as appropriate to their specialization and degree program. 7. Work independently and with peers through unsupervised rehearsals. 8. Methods of Evaluation | Students will be evaluated based on each courses. Students are required to hold two (2) full-length recitals that include 60-minutes of music throughout the study of the program. The first recital should be at the end of String Instruments 102 , and the second recital should be at the end of String Instruments 202 (also known as the graduation recital). Repertoire for the recital must be approved by the applied music teacher. The recital will be adjudicated by the applied music teacher and one other juror. Completion Requirements | Students must achieve a minimum average of 70 in all of the courses and the two recitals. Students must pass the recitals at the end of String Instruments 102 and String Instruments 202 to be deemed completion of the program. Prior to holding the graduation recital, students must have no outstanding payments (e.g. tuition).
